- De S&P 500 en de Nasdaq-futures daalden licht, terwijl beleggers zich schrap zetten voor een cruciale week met mogelijk nieuwe Amerikaanse sancties tegen Iran, de toespraak van Fed-voorzitter Kevin Warsh in Jackson Hole en de kwartaalresultaten van Nvidia.
- Elders noteerden de Europese aandelenmarkten licht lager, waarbij vooral technologieaandelen onder druk stonden. De Japanse Nikkei-index daalde eveneens, doordat AI-gerelateerde aandelen werden verkocht in de aanloop naar de resultaten van Nvidia. Ook de aandelenmarkten van China en Hongkong gingen achteruit nadat een onverwachte aandelenplaatsing door technologiebedrijf Alibaba opnieuw bezorgdheid deed ontstaan over de uitgaven voor artificiële intelligentie.
- De olieprijzen gingen lager doordat beleggers winst namen in afwachting van een verwachte aankondiging uit Washington over bijkomende sancties tegen Iran, die de aanvoer van olie uit het Midden-Oosten verder zouden kunnen verstoren.
- De dollar bleef hangen nabij zijn laagste niveau in meerdere maanden, in een markt die verontrust werd door de belofte van het Amerikaanse ministerie van Financiën om meer langlopende obligaties terug te kopen. Intussen steeg de goudprijs naar het hoogste niveau in meer dan drie maanden, waarbij de aandacht verschuift naar de Amerikaanse inflatiecijfers die deze week worden gepubliceerd.

- De Amerikaanse president Donald Trump investeerde in juni tot 50.000 dollar in SpaceX van Elon Musk, volgens een openbaar financieel rapport. Daardoor heeft hij nu een financieel belang in een belangrijke overheidsaannemer die wordt geleid door zijn voormalige adviseur.

Aggreko: The power solutions provider filed for a U.S. initial public offering on Monday as it seeks to capitalize on growing investor appetite for energy infrastructure providers amid rising electricity demand. The company intends to list its ordinary shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "AGKO", but did not disclose the number of shares to be offered or the proposed price range. Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and BofA Securities are acting as joint lead bookrunning managers for the offering.
Altria Group & Philip Morris International: The two tobacco companies announced on Monday that they have entered into contract manufacturing arrangements with each other. Altria is seeking to expand its import and export activities and benefit from tax rebates. Philip Morris emphasized that the agreement does not alter its strategy and that it has no plans to sell cigarettes in the United States. The first shipments are expected in 2027. Both companies stated that they do not expect the arrangements to affect their 2026 performance.
Boeing: The U.S. Department of Defense awarded Boeing a contract worth up to 131.23 billion dollar to support the F-15 Eagle Crest program. The contract covers the production, modernization, systems integration and maintenance of F-15 fighter aircraft for the U.S. Air Force and a number of international customers, including Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Poland. The work is expected to continue through August 2037.
Eli Lilly, Labcorp & Quest Diagnostics: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a blood test developed by Roche and Eli Lilly that can help identify signs of Alzheimer’s disease in people aged 55 and older experiencing cognitive decline. The test, called Elecsys pTau217, helps doctors detect brain changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics plan to offer the test through their laboratory networks, significantly expanding access across the United States.
Hormel Foods: The maker of products including Skippy peanut butter has appointed former Tyson Foods executive Ash Bhumbla as chief financial officer effective September. He succeeds interim CFO Paul Kuehneman, who has held the role since October 2025. The appointment is part of a broader management reshuffle at the company.
Johnson & Johnson: The FDA has expanded approval of Imaavy for the treatment of warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA), a rare blood disorder. The medicine becomes the first treatment specifically approved for this condition in patients aged 12 years and older. In a clinical trial, patients receiving Imaavy were about three times more likely to achieve a sustained improvement than those receiving a placebo.
nVent Electric: The electrical equipment manufacturer will acquire data center equipment maker Maverick Power for 1.75 billion dollar. An additional payment of up to 550 million dollar may be made if certain performance targets are achieved. Through the acquisition, nVent aims to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.
Nvidia: Wednesday’s earnings release is being viewed as a major test for the AI sector. Analysts expect second-quarter revenue to nearly double to 92.18 billion dollar, driven by more than a doubling in data center sales. At the same time, concerns are growing over the sustainability of the AI investment boom and Nvidia’s involvement in so-called circular transactions within the AI ecosystem.
